Sweet Extravaganza WEEK NINE and winner

THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED

Our winner for WEEK EIGHT is: Stacy from Life "Inside". Congratulations!!

Stacy said...
Once upon a time a beautiful baby boy was born during the first week of March. Now in most parts of our great country the month of March means we are on the cusp of spring, but this is not the case in the MatSu Valley, Alaska where the baby boy was born. In Alaska March means winter is still raging on & to make matter worse, the winds often peak at 80+mph in the Valley during this time.

For the boy's first 5 birthdays his mother didn't allow the harsh weather to affect his birthday festivities. However it happened the very day of his 6th birthday fell on a school day & the boy was very excited to share a birthday treat with all his Kindergarten friends.
So the mommy spent hours decorating 2 dozen beautiful cupcakes with a variety of sugary confections for her son's class. About 20 minutes before the classroom celebration was to begin the mommy loaded the cupcakes into her minivan that was parked in the garage, safe from the harsh arctic elements.

As the mommy parked in the school parking lot, she was acutely aware that the Chinook winds were violently tossing her van from side to side. She said a little prayer hoping she would be able to make it into the building with her precious cargo.

The mommy had made it about 1/2 way to the building when a enormous gust of wind struck the cupcake-toting mommy head on, ripping the tray of yumminess from her arms. Needless to say, the mommy was devastated. About a dozen cupcakes were strewn in the snow bank just inches away, while the cupcakes that had survived the fall and we still in the tray were now covered in a thick layer of grey glacial silt that had been carried by the wind. The birthday treat was ruined.

Quickly the mommy gathered the debris, hopped in her minivan & managed to purchase 2 dozen store bought frosting & gummy worm decorated doughnuts and deliver them to the classroom with just seconds to spare. And while the children all loved the treat, both the mommy & the boy were heartbroken that their cupcake vision had been ruined.

Hopefully by the boy's 7th birthday the mommy will have been able to obtain a cupcake courier (do they even sell these in Alaska?) to prevent such a tragedy from happening again..........

Thank you to everyone who entered! We had a blast reading every one's stories!!

This week to enter, just leave us a comment with why you'd like to win!

This week's giveaway will end on Friday June 27th!

The best cupcake I ever had was one my Mom made when I was 8. It was vanilla cake with a strawberry inside and vanilla frosting w/strawberries on top. Totally delicious and appropriate because at that age I was into "Strawberry Shortcake" dolls.

the best cupcake I ever had was the first cupcake that my son michael and I made together. i was trying to teach him about baking and he loves cupcakes. It was great. of course it helped that it was chocolate with chocolate icing

The best cupcake I ever had was one my niece made me when I was sick. I could hear her in the kitchen with her mommy telling her "she needs sprinkles - they make me feel better!" Later she curled up with me in bed and presented it to me. She tried to cheer me up by making me a beautiful cupcake - it tasted like raw flour and it looked like an art project gone terribly wrong, but she had all this love in her eyes when she brought it to me. I ate it all in front of her and licked my fingers, and although it gave me a tummy ache later, that look in her eyes was so incredibly priceless. She was so excited that auntie ate her whole cupcake and told her how beautiful it was. You really can't buy those type of memories, kids are so precious.

I made my son sesame street character themed cupcakes, he loved them , but I used muffin mixes and a light frosting, nothing too sugary!

The best cupcakes I have had are from a bakery in my town called "Sweet Tooth". You can get them decorated any way you want, but I prefer just the plain white icing and yellow cake. I get them for all my kid's birthdays, and sometimes, if I'm driving by and get a craving, I'll stop for a treat. They are heaven!

The best cupcake was one that I had at a friends house. She made Banana Split cupcakes - banana cake filled with a chocolate mixture, with peanuts, topped with a vanilla butter cream frosting - these were really good. Which reminds me, I need to get that recipe.

the very best cupcake is one I had at a Bridal Show...they had these cupcakes stacked high to look like a wedding cake. At the end of the show anyone standing near this particular vendor's booth got to take one! It was a tiramisu cupcake and I have never tasted anything like it since! My daughter and I were just happy we were in the right place at the right time! And that cupcake was HUGE!

While I don't make cupcakes much, I do love to make muffins! And with my DD starting school this fall I'm hoping to be able to bring some healthy muffins for the classe's snack when it's my turn to bring one. This would definitly come in handy! I also love bringing my muffins to potlucks etc, so again... this carrier would be great for sharing my muffins!

Thanks for the great giveaway!

Great story, sounds like something that would happen to one of my co-workers (except the whole Alaska part). She put so much effort and love into everything she bakes. This courier would actually go to her if I win. She has made some of the best cupcakes I have ever had too. The ones that come to mind most recently were just basic chocolate cupcakes, but she put some kind of creme filling in the middle, and then topped them with her signature buttercreme frosting that is the best frosting I have ever had.

The winner of Week 8 tells a sweet story! I'm glad she's getting a courier to help prevent another 'cupcakes strewn in the snow fiasco':) No chance of my cupcakes being strewn in the snow here, they're more likely to just melt the minute I step out of my front door. Now if I had a courier, I could load up my signature vanilla cupcakes, then place said courier into our giant ice-packed cooler and voila! - perfect cupcakes for all:)

I have two little girls who love making cupcakes. I need a cupcake carrier just to get them out of the house. If we had one I could keep some of the cupcakes in their even in the house. Then when we go to the park or someone's house for a playdate I can take some of the cupcakes. We really do make them all the time, at least once a week sometimes twice. Also with my oldest starting kindergarten we will be needing something to carry all those cupcakes to school on her birthday. I could also use it for birthday parties which will be at a park or a gym (she has not decided yet). Lastly I see many bakesales in the very near future. I would use mine every week!!

I would love to win a cupcake courier because I am a klutz, and the only way something topped with frosting is going to make it out the door of our condo, down the stairs, into the car, across town and into the church nursery unscathed is in a cupcake courier. How's that for a run-on sentence? Why would I want to go to the trouble? Because my mama made all kinds of wonderful cupcakes for me when I was a kid, and I think every child should have the same experience. I still remember the ones we made for my 2nd grade class on my birthday, my all-time favorites: devil's food cupcakes with vanilla frosting tined green, lollipop "flowers" and spearmint gumdrop leaves. Thinking about it even now makes me drool. Thanks loads for the offer!

I would like to win a cupcake courier because then I would be able to easily transport my cupcakes anywhere, without having to worry about their icing and other decorations getting wrecked. For instance, today my daughter brought cupcakes decorated like cats to school. This is sooo my day to add a memorable post. My mom worked full time and had very little time left over for baking when she got home at 7:00 each night. Needless to say, with four kids, she was swamped. However, on the first Friday of every month, my school held a bake sale. With the best of intentions, my mom would always donate Devil Dogs which I loved. However, compared to all the beautiful home baked cupcakes my friends brought it, I felt sad. One month, my mom was home from work taking care of my little brother who was sick and I reminded her that we needed cupcakes for school. That month, she baked the most delicious, beautiful looking, strawberry cupcakes. I was very proud!

The best cupcake I ever had was a moist homemade chocolate with a frosting that was like old fashioned fudge. Oh, man, I wish I had that recipe right now! Thanks for the memory!
Thanks for the chance to win!

The best cupcake I've ever had was a vanilla based cupcake with a rich chocolate icing and it was topped with a candy pumpkin. It looked adorable and was delicious!

It's a tie between Red Velvet with lots of cream cheese frosting piled on top, and a German Chocolate with coconut and pecans in the frosting, and a hidden treasure of cream cheese inside the muffin.

Sometimes I just love the bakery ones with lots of buttercream frosting on yellow cake.

I would LOVE to win one of these because not only are they functional but they are so very pretty too! My sister bought one of these (from the only place in Canada that sells them) and she brags about it all of the time. I really need to own one too so that we can both brag together!!

My cupcakes do not play well together, they need to be separated when traveling somewhere in the car (grin).

My Mom made great cupcakes. She would add chocolate so that they would have a gooey center. I wish I knew how she did that. They were the best.

I'd like to win because I sell Tupperware and we have nothing that would carry cupcakes quite like this. My family would be surprised at my happiness in something plastic that is non-Tupperware. Pick me Pick me!

I am always making cupcakes for various functions and I have to use a container that is not exclusively designed for cupcakes so the icing usually does not look as pretty once I uncover. Thanks!

I would love to win one of these for my youngest daughter who has been "into" making cupcakes lately. She started a new job a couple of months ago and loves to take her cupcake creations to work to share (so do I!) We have gotten together to bake a couple of times since she moved out, and I have really enjoyed our new "grown-up" relationship. Having the Cupcake Courier to share would be one more good reason to get together to bake cupcakes!

I'd like to win because I'm tired of ruining cupcakes before I get them to the party.
