I don't have any in school yet but I think I'll know they are prepared when I feel like we have had productive & fun summers, so much so that they know it's time to hit the books again. And I have a niece that started school for the first time this year and she is just loving it. I could tell she was prepared because she was more than thrilled to go to Kindergarten.

My oldest daughter started kindy on the 13th, but we were more or less prepared in time. The only thing that we didn't get to, and haven't yet finished is wardrobe shopping. She attends a public school, but the school has a uniform policy. We bought our daughter enough clothes to get by, but we'd really like to pick up a couple extra shirts for her. Plus she still needs some tights, pants, and a cardigan. Otherwise though, like I said, we were pretty much ready. :)

We are in year round school so it is a pretty easy transtion - for the track my kids are on - they get a week off in July (school ends right before that) then they are back in for 2 weeks in their new grade. After 2 weeks they track out for 3 and then start school again in late August. We are pretty used to it now. The thing that stinks is that the good school supply sales start AFTER they are in school

I feel like I have done everything on "the list" for school. I can't think of anything that I can get at this point to have them more physically prepared. Mentally, I don't know if I can ever truly prepare them. Things are so much harder. There is so much growth in our area. There are all kinds of issues from making sure they are getting everything they need from their classes, safety, health, etc. I think it's much harder now than when we were in school.

Definitely not prepared!!! School started today and I didn't have 1/2 of the things on my daughter's list. We got in late last night from a trip and missed the whole meet your teacher experience. My daughter didn't even know her teacher's name because I had forgotten to take in the proof of residency. Luckily it all worked out, the first day pictures look great and probably the kids didn't even realize how crazy mom was feeling. And as far as school supplies go, it's not like they actually used them today anyway.

I don't think I'm ever ready for them to go back emotionally. Some days it's nice but most others I'd like to have my baies home with me. As far as supplies and such, we're pretty well set though I'm sure there will be some suprise needs.

Thanks so uch for your blog and the contest!

My kids are just a bit too young to be starting school yet, but we'll be getting them in a toddler program this fall. I'm feeling very nervous at the prospect of my darlings starting any kind of class - seems like just yesterday that they were not even able to sit up!

My oldest son started Kindergarten on August 11th and boy did I feel unprepared. I've been away from the whole school thing now for so long that I was really amazed at how different it is now as opposed to when I went to school. Fortunately, we all made it through and things seem to be going well. I just got a call from my son's teacher that he has been nominated for Student of the Month!

I can honestly say I am never prepared for anything fully with the boys. School was just the most recent, I wasn't prepared for all the school supplies and them growing up, taking buses and doing homework. It makes me feel old.

      Candie L said...

I never feel I am ready. I wish I would have been able to buy the boys more outfits for school (they received 2 each) for back to school. The school knows that they cater to a lower income bracket and we only have to pay a supply fee one time a year ($25 per child)

      luckylucianie said...

I am prepared with all the supplies and helping with the homework. The only thing we are adjusting to is my son's new early morning schedule for Middle School. Neither of us enjoy getting up in the dark at 6 AM!

As far as supplies I think we are pretty ready to go as I tend to pick up things through the summer. Emotionally though is another story as my youngest starts school for the very first time and I admit that there will be a lump in my throat when he gets on the bus and waves goodbye.

My kids started school back in August and I was in no way prepared for them to both be in school. Yeah, we had everything they needed but I still was having issues with how creepy quiet my house was without either of them home. I am SO NOT ready for them to be back in school now! It is a major battle to get my 9 year old son to sit down and complete the truckload of homework he has every night! Now that my teenage son is older, it seems that they never give supply list out, so you have to wait for school to start and then go crazy trying to find this certain calculator, or binder, since supplys are very limited and picked thru already.

Public schools for older students started in mid-August and for elementary students the following week. Mentally it's so hard to send them off to school practically in the middle of summer. I feel like school shouldn't start before Labor Day.
I've never had a problem when they start school. I think it's because I always loved school so much and I'm excited for them.
There were some amazing sales for school supplies and clothes so that wasn't a problem.

It was much easier this year than last year, when she was going to kindergarten after being home with me her whole life. Still, I wasn't fully prepared as we went on vacation the weekend before school started and it made everything feel kind of rushed on that Tuesday morning.
