I am so excited to tell you, that today I took the day off to spend with my family. We started out with breakfast at Mc Donalds cause the kids love to go there. Korbyn and Nevaeh both ate really well and climbed all over the place. Then we drove to the Grand Rapids Children's Museum, which is downtown. We didn't tell Nevaeh where we were going until we go outside the building and she was so excited.
I love taking the kids here because everything is meant to be a teaching tool for the children. First, there is a construction site complete with hard hats and a mini crane. The floor is covered with rubber shaving that the kids can scoop up in buckets or wheel barrows. It was so much fun, the smile on Korbyn's face was worth a $1000 bucks.
Then we went to another part of the buidling which had a tiny kitchen for kids complete with food, dishes, pots and pans. The Nevaeh cooked dinner for us while Korbyn put away dishes in every cupboard. But, one of the best places was the store section complete with shopping carts, cash register and food. We had such a blast playing store and paying for our groceries. I sat behind the counter and I believe I rang up about 20 kids grocery carts full of food. The look in their eyes when they see a parents "REALLY" playing with them just melted my heart.
Some parents sat their and read while their children ran all over the place which is fine for them. But, for myself and my husband...we love to get down and dirty with them. It was great. One the way home a car cut my husband off and well he swore real loud and real fast! I just about snapped because I knew Nevaeh heard everyword that came out of his mouth. So what was the next thing I heard???

Family Friday
"Mom, why did Daddy say Dammit?" It's so hard not to laugh out loud! But, we told her that daddy was really naughty and had a potty mouth. He told her he was sorry! All I wanted to do was smack him upside the head! LOL!
So when we got home we dug through all the cupboards, empty all of the food boxes we could and set up our own grocery store. I think we played store for over three hours tonight and that is what family time is all about.
When things get hectic, take the time to sit down and play with your kids! You will love it and so will they!

I love taking my kids to our children's museum! my kids love the grocery store part too but their favorite is an area with water and boats and things to build dams and canals to reroute the water. I'm glad yall had a great time...even with the bonus lesson on what we do and do not say!
